The Khodorkovsky trial - the investors' view

The 14-year prison sentence against former oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky handed out in late December has renewed concerns about the rule of law in Russia.

The guilty verdict is seen by governments in the US and Europe and many observers as politically motivated.

It comes at a time when Russia's government is trying to attract foreign investment to help modernize the economy.
