US unemployment figures expected to rise

The unemployment rate in the US has remained above 9% for 20 months in a row. On Friday the latest jobs figures for January will be published by the Labor department.

The latest private sector survey from Automatic Data Processing released on Wednesday shows that business payrolls increased by 187,000.

However, official figures are not likely to be so optimistic.
