Byrne: Youth unemployment 'worrying'

Unemployment has risen again. The number of people out of work went up by 44,000 in the three months to December to just under 2.5 million.

The figures, from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), also show that youth unemployment has gone up to 965,000 which is its highest level since 1992.

It means one in five people, aged between 16 and 24, is without work.

The Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary and Labour MP, Liam Byrne, says this is ''worrying'' for young people who face ''a summer of anxiety''.
