Energy sales: MPs' committee calls for simpler pricing

Many people who change energy provider are "very confused by complicated alternative prices" and end up paying more than they should for fuel, according to a group of MPs.

Tim Yeo, who chairs the Energy and Climate Change Committee, told the BBC the group had called on energy companies to simplify pricing "so consumers can see more clearly what the alternatives are".

He said the committee had asked energy companies whether they would compensate people who had been mis-sold energy policies, "and unfortunately we couldn't get a straight answer".
