Countries react to market turmoil

Fear has tightened its grip on the markets.

Across the globe stocks and commodities have tumbled over the past day with the US seeing some of the worst losses.

The Dow closed 4.3% lower on Thursday wiping out all its gains this year.

The technology heavy Nasdaq fared worse dropping over 5% while the broader S&P 500 index lost 4.8%.

For the S&P 500, it was the worst one-day sell-off since February 2009 when the country was still in recession.

BBC correspondents take stock of global reactions to the market turmoil.
