Markets end the week on a high after earlier turmoil

European share indexes have ended the week on a positive note thanks to increased confidence in the eurozone and a rise in US retail sales.

After initial falls, London's FTSE 100, Paris's Cac and Frankfurt's Dax closed up between 3 and 4%.
