Olympus struggles to contain crisis over $687m payment

Shares in the Japanese camera maker Olympus have lost more than half of their value in just over a week, as it struggles to contain a growing financial scandal.

There are reports that the FBI is now investigating a payment of $685m that the firm made in relation to the purchase of a British company in 2008.

The BBC's Roland Buerk explains why the firm has been engulfed by crisis in such a short period of time.
