Would executives at the CBI conference take a pay cut?

An inquiry into executive pay has found that what it calls "stratospheric" pay rises are having a "corrosive" effect on the economy.

The High Pay Commission, which was set up by the centre-left think tank, Compass, cites the example of Barclays Bank, where the former chief executive was paid 169 times more than the average employee.

But delegates and executives at the CBI conference told the BBC that pay should be aligned to performance.
