Apple faces iPad legal action in China

A company called Shenzhen Proview is attempting to stop Apple selling iPads in China in a dispute over the right to use the tablet computer's name.

Proview claims ownership of the name iPad, accusing Apple of acting dishonestly when the US giant bought the rights to use the name in 2009. Apple says Proview has failed to honour the sale agreement.

Proview is asking a court in Shanghai to block sales of the iPad in China and has succeeded in winning cases against Apple elsewhere in the country.

Bryan Ma from IDC Asia Pacific told the BBC that a settlement between the two companies was the most likely outcome.
