Nissan set to create 2,000 jobs in Sunderland

The Japanese carmaker Nissan is to build a new model at its Sunderland factory, a move that will create 2,000 jobs.

Production of the new compact car is scheduled to start in 2013, and the government is supporting the project with a £9.3m grant.

Trevor Mann, Nissan's head of production in Europe, spoke to the BBC from the Geneva Motor Show.
