Banks to send out more letters to PPI victims

UK banks are about to send out millions more letters to customers saying they may have been mis-sold payment protection insurance for loans and can now apply for compensation.

More than 200,000 people have already complained, with successful claimants receiving an average of £2,700.

The market researchers GfK NOP have found that Swindon has one of the highest number of people who were sold PPI.

One shopper there told the BBC that there are probably people who still do not realise they have been sold it.
