New car registrations rise in March

New car registrations rose 1.8% in March showing encouraging growth in the market, say the Society of Motor Manufacturing and Traders.

There were 372,835 new 2012-plate registrations in March - a month which typically sees the largest number of cars registered.

Nikki Rooke from the Society Of Motor Manufacturers and Traders told the BBC: "We've seen a lot of people invest in the lower CO2 emitting vehicles with better fuel efficiency".
