US wins World Bank presidency again

The President of the World Bank is once again an American.

The organisation's new president will be US nominee Dr Jim Yong Kim and he will take up the post at the beginning of July.

His rival had been Nigeria's Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala but she lost out.

The US has held the World Bank presidency since it was founded in 1944 and there have been growing calls for the leadership to be given to another nationality.
