Vodafone to buy Cable and Wireless
Mobile phone giant Vodafone is to buy the telecoms group Cable & Wireless Worldwide, in a deal that values the firm at over £1bn.
The takeover will give Vodafone a fixed line business, as well as its existing mobile network.
C&W Worldwide provides broadband and communications for business clients, including Tesco and the UK police force.
Nick Brown, Telecoms Analyst at Espirito Santo Bank told the BBC that the move "will strengthen their UK and international enterprise business".
