Spanish unemployment hits record

The number of unemployed people in Spain has reached a record high, official figures show, with 5.6m people out of work.

The news that the unemployment rate has reached 24.4% - with youth unemployment at higher than 50% - comes hours after ratings agency Standard & Poor's downgraded Spanish sovereign debt.
