RFID technology thwarts bird's nest counterfeiters
Edible bird's nests is sometimes referred to as the "caviar of the east" in Asia.
Malaysia is one of the top producers of the delicacy, but fake products have hurt the industry. Safety concerns last year effectively halted all Malaysian exports of bird's nests to China, the biggest consumer of the delicacy.
To regain consumer confidence, the south-east Asian country is using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to prevent counterfeits.
