Mervyn King 'pessimistic' about worsening global economy
The governor of the Bank of England has spoken of his concern about the worsening state of the global economy.
Sir Mervyn King told the House of Commons Treasury Select Committee he was "pessimistic" and "particularly concerned" about the worsening situation in the eurozone, adding that the problem was "being pushed down the road and not being gripped".
Sir Mervyn also said he was worried about other regional economies, especially the "worsening I see in the position in Asia and in other emerging markets".
