Labour leader Ed Miliband: Strike off bad bankers

Labour has stepped up demands for a shake-up of the banking system, with a call for a code of conduct for bankers.

In a speech in London, Labour leader Ed Miliband said that bankers should be "struck off" if they were found to have committed a serious breach of the code.

Meanwhile the deputy governor of the Bank of England, Paul Tucker, is to appear before the Treasury Committee to be questioned about a key conversation he had with the former boss of Barclays.

It comes as the committee continues to investigate the attempt by Barclays traders to fix a key bank lending rate.
