Oman has not been immune to unrest in the past 18 months, but the government has managed to largely silence protesters by the promise of creating jobs, higher pay and better conditions for workers.
But Oman's economy still faces the twin challenges of diversifying away from its oil dependence and ensuring more of its young population enters the workforce - so what steps is it taking to safeguard its future?
