European Central Bank chief: 'The euro is irreversible'

The European Central Bank President Mario Draghi said policy makers will do whatever it takes to protect the euro.

He told an investment conference in London: "Within our mandate, the ECB is ready to do whatever it takes to preserve the euro."

His comments come ahead of an ECB monetary policy meeting next week and have boosted European markets.
