Can luxury goods exports boost the UK's economy?

The UK is being urged to export itself out of recession and the idea of selling the rest of the world something British has been embraced by some luxury brands.

In an age of austerity the idea of turning to designer labels, fast cars and expensive spirits to save the economy may appear counterintuitive, but experts are hoping to exploit the country's reputation for producing luxury goods for the discerning customer.
