Will Clinton strengthen US-China ties?

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is in China to meet with officials, including President Hu Jintao.

The situation in Syria is on the agenda and the secretary of state is likely to press Beijing for a peaceful resolution with its neighbours, over territorial claims in the South China Sea.

William Hess from PRC Macro Advisors in Beijing, told the BBC's Asia Business Report that tough talk from Clinton was unlikely to damage trade relations between the two countries.
