Huawei responds to US allegations

Back in 2001 China's president Jiang Zemin sent his private jet, a Boeing 767, to be refitted in the US.

When it was returned, the Chinese found it had been refitted with a little more than they'd bargained for: namely, with listening devices. The plane was bugged.

Today, over a decade later, that deficit in trust is still there.

This time it's the Americans who've accused two of China's biggest telecoms companies, Huawei and ZTE, of posing a security threat to the US.

The US authorities say they are an arm of China's state security services.

In an interview with the BBC's Manuela Saragosa, Huawei's US spokesman Bill Plummer gave his response.
