Bank predicts protracted recovery

The Governor of the Bank of England Sir Mervyn King has given a downbeat snapshot of the UK's recovery prospects, with inflation likely to stay higher than first thought.

Delivering his quarterly report, the Governor said, the Bank has cut its UK growth forecast to 1%, "it may be unreasonable to expect anything other than a slow and protracted recovery."
