China approved to buy Canadian energy company Nexen

State-owned CNOOC is making China's biggest-ever energy acquisition through the purchase of Canadian oil company Nexen.

Separately, the Canadian government also gave the green light for Malaysia's Petronas to buy gas producer Progress Energy after an initial rejection.
