In recent weeks, workers across the region have been protesting, asking for more cash and better conditions.

In Hong Kong, Cathay Pacific cabin crew voted to take industrial action after salary negotiations with the carrier broke down.

In Singapore, more than 100 Chinese bus drivers failed to turn up for work two weeks ago, staging the island's first strike since 1986.

Meanwhile in Indonesia, despite a jump in the minimum wage, workers have complained that some firms are trying to get around the new laws.
