Taxpayers' Alliance: UK tax system 'hideously complex'

G20 finance ministers meeting in Moscow have pledged to crack down on tax avoidance by multinational companies.

The final communique said members were determined to develop measures to stop firms shifting profits from a home country to pay less tax elsewhere.

John O'Connell, from the Taxpayers' Alliance, said that the move was welcome, but suggested that UK Chancellor George Osborne also needed to "look closer to home".

Speaking to the BBC's News Channel, he described the UK tax system as "hideously complex" and suggested that loopholes needed to be closed.
