Coal 'still critical' to UK energy industry
Coal is still "critical" to UK energy production, despite the country's largest mine being forced to close after a fire.
UK Coal's Andrew Mackintosh told BBC News that coal fired power stations produce half of the electricity in the UK, and would have an important role to play as the country moved towards more sustainable technologies.
The Daw Mill Colliery in Warwickshire employed 650 staff, the majority of who face being made redundant.
