Sri Lanka leader on China visit

Sri Lanka's President Mahinda Rajapaksa is on his sixth visit to China, in a sign of warming relations between the two countries.

China has been a huge financier of investment projects in Sri Lanka, including a vast new seaport and an airport. Beijing also recently financed the building of a theatre for performing arts in Colombo named after Mr Rajapaksa.

Meanwhile, an increasing number of Chinese tourists are also visiting the island nation, which is recovering from a decades-long civil war.

However, opponents to Mr Rajapaksa say that the country is getting getting hooked on Chinese debt.

The BBC's Charles Havilland reports from Colombo.
