BCC: UK businesses 'doing OK'

The British Chambers of Commerce is upping its growth forecasts for the next three years amid a stronger recovery in services and consumer spending.

John Longworth, the organisation's director general told Today business presenter Simon Jack that "we think there should be a serious switch from current spending to capital spending... It's not hard to do at all."

And he added that the BCC has identified a substantial amount of current spending, including "welfare which isn't necessary" which could be used to pay for capital projects.

First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Friday 31 May 2013.
