Sir Adrian Cadbury on business ethics
In 1992, Britain's corporate reputation was in tatters after the collapse of BCCI and Polly Peck along with Robert Maxwell's raid on Mirror Group pensioners had rocked confidence in business ethics.
Sir Adrian Cadbury wrote a report which has been the cornerstone of corporate governance ever since.
In the light of the recklessness seen in the run up to the financial crisis, Sir Adrian Cadbury told Today business presenter Simon Jack companies now have changed "in terms of the fact that they understand what governance is about".
"Companies do have a duty to society at large," he said.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Thursday 6 June 2013.
