Hugh's review: What now for jobs and wages?

This week's figures from the jobs market showed the number in work has increased, unemployment is down but the squeeze on spending power has continued.

Average earnings increases are running well below the rate of inflation and the IFS think tank reported that the drop in inflation adjusted wages over the last five years was "unprecedented".
