Can 'alternative review' save High Streets?
A retail veteran so frustrated at the lack of progress on tackling High Street decline, has decided to come up with his own strategy to try to boost the UK's struggling town centres.
Former Wickes and Iceland boss Bill Grimsey has launched what he described as an alternative review of the High Street - which will be presented to all three political parties at the end of the year.
He has put together a small team of experts to come up with new ideas as he does not believe the government's flagship scheme, known as Portas Pilots, is yielding results.
Speaking to the BBC's Stephanie McGovern, Mr Grimsey said that the declining number of people frequenting town centres was a key issue that needed to be tackled.
