Howard Stringer steps down from Sony
After eight years, Sir Howard Stringer steps down from the Japanese electronics giant Sony on Thursday.
The British born executive took over the reins at Sony in 2005 just as it was hit by the onslaught from Apple and Samsung.
He fought hard to restructure the company, but last year, with Sony still making huge losses, he handed over day-to-day running of the company to Kazuo Hirai.
The BBC's Rupert Wingfield-Hayes reports from Tokyo.
