China likely to become world's largest oil importer
China is likely to overtake the US as the world's largest oil importer as early as next year, according to a report from the US Energy Information Administration.
The switch comes as the US continues to boost domestic energy supply while China's energy demand remains robust.
Energy Aspects oil analyst Amrita Sen told BBC World that global oil producers were focusing on the Asian market: "Because of the growth in China and India, everybody is diverting their attention".
