European roaming costs: 'Eventual eradication of charges'

The European Commission is giving details of its plans to reform the telecoms industry.

Davies Murphy consultant Chris Green told BBC World what he expects to happen.

"Eventually we expect to see an announcement of the complete eradication of roaming charges for voice calls and text messages across the EU... Data is going to come down but at a slightly slower rate."

He added that initially there would be "a bit of a hit" for mobile companies but that existing EU caps on call charges had been offset by people making more calls.
