US debt ceiling: 'Ridiculous' not to review credit rating

Ratings agency Fitch has warned it could downgrade the US government's AAA rating, as the deadline to raise the US borrowing limit draws closer.

The move comes after Democrats rejected a plan by the Republican-led House of Representatives as an attempt to appease a small group of conservatives.

The US must raise its debt limit by Thursday or risk default.

David Kuo from the Motley Fool told the BBC's Rico Hizon it would be "ridiculous" not to review the US rating.
