Ed Miliband: David Cameron pleading with energy companies

Labour leader Ed Miliband says the prime minister has been "pleading with energy companies to get him off the hook".

Energy firms told BBC News that ministers had asked them to freeze bills so long as there was no significant move in global wholesale energy prices - however government sources have denied it.

Mr Miliband said the government was "flailing around, unsure what to do" while Labour would freeze prices until 2017 and strengthen the regulator.
