Davos 2014: Iran's Hassan Rouhani calls for 'free' elections in Syria

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has said that ''free and fair elections'' are the best solution to the crisis in Syria.

Speaking in a question-and-answer session after his address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, President Rouhani said only the Syrian people should determine their future without any influence from outside powers.

"We have to pave the way for the opposition to sit around a table with the government,'' he added.
