Cuadrilla boss explains choice of fracking sites

Cuadrilla chief executive Francis Egan has been telling the BBC why two sites in Lancashire have been chosen for exploratory fracking to search for shale gas.

"The first thing is the geology - about 2km down there's a lot of gas in the rocks... We then looked at a host of other factors - closeness to infrastructure", he told BBC business correspondent John Moylan.

Fracking plans elsewhere have sparked protests from local residents and environmentalists, but Mr Egan said: "Opinion polling shows that two to one people favour exploration... It's important for the country, it's important for Lancashire - we need gas."
