Tesla to build charging stations across US

Shares in Tesla Motors have surged after it announced plans to build a vast new factory in the US which could more than double the global production of lithium ion batteries.

Battery costs had been seen as a major obstacle to the widespread adoption of electric cars in America.

Motoring journalist Quentin Willson told BBC World that Tesla had been "clever" to address people's concerns by creating charging stations across the US.
