Esther McVey welcomes fall in number out of work

The Employment Minister, Esther McVey, has welcomed the latest unemployment figures, which show that the number of people out of work in the UK fell by 63,000 to 2.33 million in the three months to January 2014.

The unemployment rate now stands at 7.2% of the population, down from 7.4% in the previous three months, according to the Office for National Statistics.

The number of people in employment rose to a record total of 30.19 million.
