Why is click and collect proving so popular?

Retailer John Lewis is to launch its smallest ever store - a click and collect service in St Pancras station in London.

Supermarkets ASDA and Tesco have already rolled out click and collect stores at tube stations. So why the rise in popularity?

Retail analyst Phil Dorrell said the stores had become so popular because they "pandered" to the lifestyles of busy people who did not want to spend time shopping.

However, he told BBC Radio 5 live's Wake Up to Money that there would always be people who would want to choose perishable goods themselves, due to the "massive differential in the product quality."
