Heathrow and Gatwick look to benefit 'all of UK'
A new Heathrow runway would contribute £100 billion to the UK economy and connect "all of the UK" to global growth, the airport's next chief executive John Holland-Kaye has said.
His comments come as Heathrow and Gatwick airports have both unveiled revised expansion plans in an attempt to secure permission to build the UK's next runway.
Gatwick airport's chief executive Stewart Wingate told the Today programme that its plans offer "lower fares and more choice" to passengers and will benefit people "across the regions of the UK" as well as those in London.
First broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Tuesday 13 May.
