With 800 million voters and only about six weeks to reach them in the run-up to the general election, India's politicians had a hard job deciding where in the country to go, and when.
But Narendra Modi appeared to be one step ahead.
The BBC's Simon Atkinson travelled to Bangalore to see how Prime Minister Modi managed to be in lots of places at once.
