Flexible working 'has business benefits'

New rules extending the right to ask for flexible working to all employees will benefit businesses as well as workers, employment minister Jo Swinson has said.

Ms Swinson told the Today programme that improved staff retention, productivity and morale are all positive effects of flexible work arrangements.

But Steve Brittan, president of the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, explained that while large businesses could easily accommodate flexible working, it might have a "dramatic effect" on small firms.

Broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Monday 30 June.
