Google search 'downgrades' competitors' products

Google is "downgrading" its competitors' products during its search results despite presenting them as objective, Mathias Dopfner has said.

The chief executive of German publishing giant Axel Springer told the Today programme that a company of Google's size with such "market domination" must be more transparent.

But Google's Rachel Whetstone dismissed such claims, explaining that "somebody has to come top" of its search results.

Broadcast on BBC Radio 4's Today programme on Wednesday 2 July.
