UK shoppers adopting the German trend of 'smart shopping'

Britain's biggest supermarkets have been having a tough time recently. Their profits have been squeezed by the discounters Aldi and Lidl.

The two chains are growing faster than any of their competitors, but they are still relatively small in the UK.

However, in their home country, Germany, the discounters have cornered a third of the market.
