Sellafield firm set to lose clean-up contract

The government is expected to announce that a private consortium is losing a £9 billion pound contract the clean up the nuclear waste site at Sellafield.

A group, comprising the British firm, AMEC, the French energy company, AREVA and the US engineering firm, URS, has run the site for more than six years.

The decision follows a report by the National Audit Office, which said the costs of decommissioning there had spiralled out of control.
