From Lawrence of Arabia to Indiana Jones, Jordan has long been a popular location for foreign film crews.

But in recent years, regional turmoil and competition from cash-rich Gulf countries has seen the film industry struggle to compete.

So could news that a Hollywood production is about to begin filming in the south of Jordan signal a change of fortune?
